Balneotherapy

This group comprises bath therapies using qualified medicinal waters. In balneotherapy, we use primarily the effects originating in the chemical composition of waters and, in addition, their physical properties (temperature, current, buoyancy, pressure, etc.).
Carbon dioxide bath | Air bubble bath
Carbon dioxide bath
Therapy in a bathtub with water containing natural or artificially saturated carbon dioxide (CO2). Its vasodilator effect is used primarily in the case of cardiovascular disorders. Generally, water temperature is between 30 ◦C and 34 ◦C.
Air bubble bath
A type of tub baths, where an intensive whirling is produced by introducing air into the water. It has a markedly positive effect first of all on the blood circulation of the limbs.

Climate therapy

In Hungary, the beneficial microclimate of medicinal caves is used primarily for healing diseases of the respiratory organs.

Diet

All spa and wellness hotels have well-trained experts to fulfill any individual dietetic requests.

Electrotherapy

Electric energy used for therapeutic purposes; it may be applied in the form of treatments using low, medium or high frequency current.
Galvanic current therapy is a form of low-frequency treatment that has a marked pain relieving and vasodilator effect. With the help of Galvanic current medicaments can be passed through the skin into the organism (iontophoresis).
Selective stimulus current is used for the treatment of paralyzed muscles. TENS (Transcutaneous Electric Nerve Stimulation) is a treatment used all over the world with a strong pain killing effect.
In general, high frequency treatments have an intensive thermal effect in the tissues, enhancing circulation and relieving pain.
Ultrasound treatments are generally mentioned as a form of electrotherapy; having an intensive micro-massaging effect in the tissues, they properly belong in the category of mechanotherapy.

Hydroelectric treatments

They combine the beneficial effects of electric current and hydrotherapy; pain relief and the reduction of inflammation are the most important of these. They can be used in the form of limb bath or for the whole body.

Hydrotherapy

Hydrotherapeutic procedures involve primarily the above-mentioned physical characteristics.
Underwater jet massage | Underwater traction bath | Alternating bath | Compresses, medical packs | Kneipp therapy
Underwater jet massage
This treatment uses the joint effects of a hot bath (muscle relaxing) and massage (water jet). The therapy is carried out in a bath tub; the attendant massages specific areas of the body using a jet of water held at a right angle to the surface of the body.
Underwater traction bath
In the course of this treatment developed in Hungary, the patient (guest) is suspended in the water by the neck or under the arms. The treatment gently eases pressure on the backbone by using water buoyancy. The main indications include degenerative diseases of the backbone and milder cases of intervertebral disk disorders. The treatment also has beneficial results in the case of abrasive disorders of the thigh and knee-joints. The effect of the treatment can be enhanced by hanging weights (as recommended by the doctor) on the waist or ankles.
Alternating bath
The four (or, in some cases, only two) limbs are immersed in small tubs the temperature of which is changed periodically and automatically over a broad range. It has a positive impact on the circulation in the limbs.
Compresses, medical packs
Procedures applied for a wide range of indications with the aim of cooling or warming certain parts of the body, often using medicaments or natural materials (e.g. chamomile) concurrently.
Kneipp therapy
Sebastian Kneipp (1821-1897), parish priest of Bad Wörishofen used stimuli resulting from the alternating application of cold and warm water to stimulate the metabolism and circulation. The cure involves various water dousings, shower treatments, medicinal baths, much physical exercise, herbal teas and diet.

Inhalation

In general, it is used for chronic catarrhs of the upper respiratory tracts or allergic respiratory complaints; both medicaments and vaporized medicinal waters may be inhaled.

Mechanotherapy

Therapeutic exercises
The whole body or specific bundles of muscles and areas of the body are moved actively and passively under the guidance of a medical exercise trainer.
Massage
Can be performed for conditioning, sport, relaxation and healing purposes.

Phototherapy and laser treatments

Infra-red and UV rays have been used extensively for more than a century in medicine.
The therapeutic significance of lasers for local skin blemishes/disorders, muscle pains etc. has come to the fore in recent decades. One of its most well-known (reflex-based) forms is laser acupuncture.

Other treatments

At many locations, classical Oriental therapies are also available
